Toybox Bible
Privacy policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
The short version: Toybox Bible is made for families. There are no accounts, no ads, no tracking and no in-app purchases. We don't ask for children's names or contact details, and we don't sell or share anyone's information.
This policy covers the Toybox Bible app for iPhone and iPad and the website at toyboxbible.org (including the version of the app that runs in a web browser). "We" and "us" means the Toybox Bible team.
What stays on your device
Everything a child does while reading and playing is saved only on your device, inside the app. This includes the reader names you type in, which stories have been read, reading streaks, badges, stickers, scenes made in the app, game bests, sound and narrator settings, and any stories you download for offline reading. We never receive this information. Deleting the app (or clearing this site's data in your browser) erases it.
What we receive
- World leaderboard scores. When someone finishes a Matching Game board with a first or personal-best time (or, on the website, finishes a Lightning Round), the app sends the score to our world leaderboard. It sends the game, level, time, number of tries or points, and a random ID the app makes up on the device so a player's best score can be kept. Our hosting provider estimates an approximate place (country, region and city) from the connection, and we store that place with the score. We do not store IP addresses with scores. The public leaderboard shows the score, the country flag and the city or region, plus the last few characters of the random ID so the app can highlight your own scores. No names are ever collected or shown.
- Story downloads. After the first 10 stories, which come built into the app, stories are downloaded from our servers when you open them. These are ordinary file requests. They are not tied to any person or account.
- Emails you choose to send us. If you email us, we receive your message and email address and use them only to reply.
- Website newsletter (grown-ups only). If a grown-up signs up for news on toyboxbible.org, we keep the email address, the page where they signed up, the date and the approximate country, so we can send news about Toybox Bible books and apps. You can ask us to remove your address at any time. The iPhone and iPad app does not ask for an email address.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no ad or analytics tools in the app.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and no cookies for tracking.
- No accounts or sign-in, and no chat or messaging.
- No precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
- We never sell or rent information, and we don't share it with others for their own use.
Children's privacy
Toybox Bible is made for children ages 3 to 8 and their families. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The app never asks a child for a name, email address, phone number or exact location. The reader names children type in stay on the device. Leaderboard scores are anonymous: a random ID and an approximate city, never a name. If you're a parent or guardian and have questions, or want a leaderboard score removed, email us. We'll help.
Reminders and calendar
If you turn on story-time reminders, they are scheduled on your device by iOS, and you can turn them off in Settings. If you add story time to your calendar, the event goes into your calendar app. None of this is sent to us.
Service providers
Our website, our story downloads and the leaderboard run on Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf to deliver them. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the service. Apple provides the App Store and may share anonymous app analytics with developers if you have chosen to share them with app developers in your device settings.
How long we keep information
Each leaderboard keeps only the top 100 scores, so a score is removed automatically when it drops off the board. We keep emails and newsletter sign-ups until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete a leaderboard score or your email address. Write to [email protected] and tell us what you'd like removed. For a score, the game, level, time, date and city help us find it. You can also delete the app at any time, which removes everything saved on the device.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If we ever want to collect something new from children, we'll update this policy before we do.
