Ephesians 6:10–18

God's Armor

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Paul was in prison in Rome for telling people about Jesus. A Roman soldier guarded him all day long, chained to Paul’s wrist.

Paul looked at the soldier. He had a strong belt, a helmet, a big shield, good shoes and a breastplate. Paul smiled. He had an idea!

He wrote a letter to the church. “God gives you armor too! Be strong in the Lord. Put on all of God’s armor, so you can stand strong.”

Wear the belt of truth: always tell the truth. Put on the breastplate of doing right. Wear shoes that are ready to share the good news of peace.

Hold up the shield of faith: trust God when you are scared. Wear the helmet of salvation: Jesus saves you! Carry the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word.

And pray, pray, pray, all the time! God’s armor isn’t for fighting people. It helps us stand strong and be brave with God’s help.

Talk about it

  • Which piece of God’s armor do you need today?
  • How can God help you be brave and kind today?
  • What is one true thing you can say when you feel worried?

Pray together

Dear God, help me stand strong with your armor and pray every day. Amen.
