The story
Jesus held up something very, very small. “God’s kingdom is like a mustard seed,” he said. “It is one of the tiniest seeds of all, smaller than a crumb.”
“A man takes that tiny seed and plants it in his garden. He covers it with soil and waters it. Then he waits, and waits, and waits.”
A little green sprout pokes out of the ground. Every day it grows a little more. Taller and taller and taller it grows!
At last the tiny seed becomes a big, leafy tree! It is the biggest plant in the whole garden. Its branches spread out wide.
Birds fly in from everywhere. They build cozy nests in the branches and sing their songs. The tree gives them shade and a safe home.
God can do big things with small beginnings. Even a little bit of faith, as tiny as a mustard seed, can grow and grow when you trust him.
