The story
Jacob had twelve sons. Joseph was his favorite. One day Jacob gave Joseph a special coat. It was fancy and bright, the kind a prince might wear!
Joseph’s big brothers were jealous. Then Joseph had dreams. “Your bundles of grain bowed down to mine,” he told them. “The sun, moon, and stars bowed to me!”
“Humph!” said the brothers. “Do you think you will rule over us?” They grew grumpier and grumpier.
One day Jacob sent Joseph to check on his brothers. “Here comes the dreamer,” they grumbled. They took his coat and put him in a dry, empty pit.
Then traders came by on camels. The brothers sold Joseph to them. Clip-clop, clip-clop. Joseph was taken far away to Egypt.
Joseph was far from home. But he was not alone at all. God was with Joseph every step of the way. And God is with us, too!
