Daniel 2

The King's Big Dream

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

One night King Nebuchadnezzar had a strange, scary dream. He woke up and could not sleep again. “I must know what my dream means!” he said.

He called all his wise men. “Tell me what I dreamed, and tell me what it means!” The wise men gulped. “Nobody can do that, O king! Nobody in the whole world!”

The king was very angry. So Daniel and his three friends did the best thing they could do. They prayed! “God, please show us the king’s dream.”

That night, God showed Daniel the dream! Daniel went to the king. “You saw a giant statue,” he said. “Its head was gold, its chest silver, its legs iron, and its feet clay.”

“Then a rock came, not cut by any hands. It knocked the statue down, and it grew into a mountain that filled the whole earth!”

“This means God’s kingdom will last forever!” said Daniel. The king bowed. “Your God is the God of gods!” God knows all things, and he answers prayer.

Talk about it

  • What can we do when we don’t know what to do?
  • Who helped Daniel understand the king’s dream?
  • How can we ask God for help when something feels too hard?

Pray together

Dear God, you know everything. When I don’t know what to do, I will pray to you. Amen.
