John 13; Luke 22

A Special Supper

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

It was time for the Passover feast. Jesus and his twelve friends gathered in an upstairs room. The table was ready, and the lamps were glowing.

Then Jesus did something surprising. He took off his outer robe, tied a towel around his waist, and poured water into a bowl.

One by one, Jesus knelt and washed his friends’ dusty feet. Swish, swash! “Lord, not my feet!” said Peter. But Jesus washed them anyway.

“I have shown you how to serve one another,” Jesus said. Then he took bread, thanked God, and broke it. “This is my body, given for you.”

He lifted the cup. “This cup is God’s new promise, made for you. Remember me.” His friends listened quietly. They would never forget this special supper.

“Love one another,” said Jesus, “just as I have loved you.” Jesus loves me, so I can love others!

Talk about it

  • How can you show love to someone this week?
  • Why do you think Jesus washed his friends’ feet?
  • What is one kind thing you can do for someone at home?

Pray together

Jesus, thank you for loving me. Help me love others like you. Amen.
