Ecclesiastes 3:1–13

A Time for Everything

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

King Solomon looked at the world and saw something wonderful. Everything has its own time. Night comes, then morning. Winter comes, then spring.

“There is a time for everything,” Solomon wrote. “A time to plant seeds, and a time to pick the fruit. A time to build, and a time to rest.”

“A time to cry, and a time to laugh. A time to be sad, and a time to dance!” Every kind of day is in God’s hands.

“There is a time to be quiet,” Solomon said, “and a time to talk. A time to hug, and a time to say goodbye. A time to work, and a time to sleep.”

Then he wrote, “God makes everything beautiful in its time.” Even when we have to wait, God is working and he knows what is best.

So enjoy your food, your friends and your work. They are gifts from God! Right now, it’s a time to say thank you.

Talk about it

  • What time of the day do you like best? Why?
  • What is something you are waiting for right now?
  • What gift from God can we say thank you for today?

Pray together

Dear God, all my days are in your hands. Make everything beautiful in its time. Amen.
