The story
Joshua was very old now. God had kept every promise. The people lived in their new land with houses, fields and vineyards. So Joshua called everyone together.
“Remember,” said Joshua. “God brought our families out of Egypt. He parted the Red Sea. He fed us in the desert. He knocked down the walls of Jericho!”
The people listened and nodded. Mothers held babies, and children sat close. God had done so many great things. Not one of his promises had failed.
Then Joshua said, “Now you must choose. Today, choose whom you will serve. Will you follow the true God, or the pretend gods of other lands?”
Joshua stood tall. “As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord!” All the people shouted, “We will serve the Lord too!”
Joshua set up a big stone under the oak tree to help them remember that promise. Your family can choose to follow God too!
