Luke 5:1–11

Come, Follow Me

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

One morning, a crowd pressed close to Jesus by the lake. So Jesus climbed into Simon Peter’s fishing boat and taught the people from the water, so everyone could hear.

Then he said, “Peter, go out deep and let down your nets.” Peter sighed. “We fished all night and caught nothing. But because you say so, I will.”

Splash! went the nets into the deep water. Then the nets began to feel heavy. Wiggle, wiggle, flip, flop! What was happening?

So many fish! The nets began to tear. Peter waved to his friends James and John, and both boats filled up so full they started to sink!

Peter fell to his knees. “Don’t be afraid,” said Jesus. “From now on, you will fish for people!”

Peter, James, and John pulled their boats to shore, left everything, and followed Jesus. Jesus wants me to follow him too!

Talk about it

  • What does it mean to follow Jesus?
  • How do you think Peter felt when the net filled with fish?
  • What is one kind thing we can do as we follow Jesus?

Pray together

Jesus, I want to follow you every day. Amen.

Memory verse
