The story
Abraham lived far away with his wife, Sarah. One day God said, “Leave your home. Go to a land I will show you. I will bless you.”
Abraham did not know where he was going. But he trusted God. So he packed up the tents and the pots, the sheep and the goats. Off they went!
Clip-clop went the camels. Baa went the sheep. Day after day, Abraham followed God, all the way to the land of Canaan.
But Abraham and Sarah had no children, and they were growing old. One night, God said, “Come outside, Abraham. Look up at the sky.”
Twinkle, twinkle! The sky was full of stars. “Count them, if you can,” said God. “Your family will be as many as the stars.”
Abraham could not count them all. But he believed God’s promise, and God was pleased. We can trust God, even when we have to wait.
