Luke 14:15–24

Everyone Is Invited

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Jesus told a story about a big party. “A man planned a wonderful dinner. He made yummy food and set out lots of tables. Then he sent his servant to call the guests.”

But the guests made excuses. “I just bought a field. I have to go see it.” “I just bought some oxen. I have to try them out.”

Another said, “I just got married. I can’t come.” Nobody came! The servant went home and told his master. The man was sad.

Then the man said, “Go out to the streets and roads! Bring in the poor, people who can’t walk, people who can’t see. Bring everyone you find!”

The servant brought them in, and soon people were laughing and eating together. “There’s still room,” said the servant. “Then go and invite more!” said the man.

God’s party is like that. God invites everyone to come to him, no matter who they are. And there is room for you too!

Talk about it

  • Who could you invite to sit with you or play with you?
  • How do you think the people felt when they were invited to the party?
  • What can we do to help someone feel welcome?

Pray together

Dear God, thank you for inviting me to your party. Help me welcome others too. Amen.
