Genesis 22:1–14

God Will Provide

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Abraham loved God, and he loved his son Isaac very much. One day God said, “Abraham, take Isaac up a mountain and worship me there.”

So Abraham and Isaac walked and climbed together. Isaac carried the wood. Abraham carried the fire. Step, step, step, up the rocky path.

“Father,” said Isaac, “we have wood and fire. But where is the lamb?” Abraham said, “God will provide, my son.” Abraham trusted God.

At the top, Abraham built an altar of stones. Then God called out, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he said. God was pleased that Abraham trusted him so much.

Abraham looked up. Rustle, rustle! A ram was caught by its horns in a bush. God had provided! They worshiped God with the ram instead.

Abraham gave the mountain a name: The Lord Will Provide. Abraham and Isaac walked home together, happy. God always gives what we truly need.
