Luke 2:8–20

Good News for Shepherds

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Out on the hills near Bethlehem, some shepherds were watching their sheep in the dark. The stars twinkled. The sheep were sleepy. Baa… baa… yawn.

Suddenly, WHOOSH! A shining angel appeared, and God’s bright glory lit up the whole hillside. The shepherds shook with fright!

“Don’t be afraid!” said the angel. “I bring happy news for everyone! Tonight in Bethlehem, a Savior is born. You will find him lying in a manger.”

Then the sky filled with angels, more than anyone could count! “Glory to God in the highest!” they sang. “Peace on earth!”

The shepherds ran, hurry, hurry, down the hill and into town. There they found Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, just as the angel had said.

Then they told everyone they met about the baby. They praised God all the way home, singing loud and happy. Jesus is good news for everyone!

  • What happy song would you sing to thank God for Jesus?
