Luke 2:22–38

Simeon and Anna

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

When Jesus was a tiny baby, Mary and Joseph took him to the temple in Jerusalem. They brought two little doves as a gift to God.

An old man named Simeon was there. God had promised him, “You will see the Savior before you die.” Simeon had waited a long, long time.

Simeon saw baby Jesus and his face lit up. He held Jesus in his arms and praised God. “Now I have seen your Savior! He is a light for the whole world!”

Then an old woman named Anna came by. She was eighty-four years old! Anna loved God so much that she stayed at the temple, praying day and night.

When Anna saw baby Jesus, she thanked God with all her heart. She knew this baby was the one God had promised to send.

Anna told everyone who was waiting for God’s help, “The Savior is here!” Like Anna, we can tell others about Jesus.

Talk about it

  • Who can you tell about Jesus this week?
  • How do you think Simeon felt when he finally saw baby Jesus?
  • What is one happy thing about Jesus that you can share?

Pray together

Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus. Help me tell others the good news. Amen.
