1 Samuel 1–2

Hannah's Prayer

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Hannah wanted a baby more than anything. Year after year, she waited and waited, but no baby came. Hannah felt very sad.

One day Hannah went to God’s house to pray. She cried and prayed from her heart. “Dear God, please give me a baby boy. I will give him back to serve you.”

Her lips moved, but no sound came out. Old Eli the priest saw her. “What’s wrong?” he asked. Hannah told him. Eli said, “Go in peace. May God answer you.”

God answered Hannah’s prayer! She had a baby boy, and she named him Samuel. That name means God heard. Hannah sang for joy!

When Samuel was big enough, Hannah kept her promise. She brought him to Eli to help in God’s house. Every year, she sewed him a brand-new little robe.

Each year the robe was a bit bigger, because Samuel was growing! Hannah’s heart was full. God hears our prayers, big and small.
