The story
For forty days after Jesus came back to life, he visited his friends. He ate with them, talked with them, and taught them about God’s kingdom.
One day, on a hill near Jerusalem, Jesus said, “Wait in the city. Soon God will send the Holy Spirit to help you.”
“Then you will tell everyone about me, here in Jerusalem, in far-off places, and all over the whole wide world!”
Then, as his friends watched, Jesus rose up, up, up into the sky, until a cloud hid him from sight.
His friends stared and stared at the sky. Suddenly two men in white stood beside them. “Jesus will come back the same way you saw him go!”
Jesus is in heaven now, but by his Spirit he is always with us. And one day, Jesus is coming back! What a happy day that will be!
