Matthew 3

Jesus Is Baptized

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

By the Jordan River lived a man named John. He wore a scratchy coat of camel hair and ate locusts and wild honey. Crunch, crunch!

“Get ready!” John called to the crowds. “Turn back to God! Someone great is coming!” People came, and John baptized them in the river. Splash!

One day Jesus came to the river. “Please baptize me,” he said. John was surprised. “You should baptize me!” But Jesus said this was the right thing to do.

So John baptized Jesus in the river. As Jesus came up out of the water, the sky opened wide. God’s Spirit came down like a dove of light and rested on him.

Then God’s voice spoke from heaven: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were all there together. Jesus is God’s dearly loved Son!
