The story
The hungry years came, just as God said. There was no food anywhere, except in Egypt. Back home, Jacob told his sons, “Go to Egypt and buy grain.”
The brothers came to Egypt and bowed down to the man in charge. They did not know it was Joseph! But Joseph knew them right away.
Joseph tested his brothers. Were they still unkind? No! Now they took care of their youngest brother, Benjamin. They were sorry for what they had done.
Joseph could not hold it in. He sent everyone else out and cried so loudly that people heard him! “I am Joseph!” he said. “Your brother!”
The brothers were frightened. But Joseph said, “Don’t be afraid. God sent me here to save lives.” He hugged each brother, and they all cried happy tears.
Joseph forgave them. Then the whole family came to live in Egypt, where there was plenty to eat. God can help us forgive, too.
