2 Kings 22–23

Josiah Finds the Book

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Josiah became king when he was only eight years old! As he grew up, he wanted to follow God. “Let’s fix God’s temple,” he said. It was old and dusty.

Workers came with hammers, saws and stones. Bang, bang! Scrape, scrape! They cleaned and fixed and swept every corner of God’s house.

Then the priest Hilkiah found something hidden under the dust. It was an old scroll! “Look!” he said. “It’s the Book of God’s Law! We forgot all about it!”

The scroll was read to King Josiah. He listened carefully. “We have not been obeying God!” he said. He was so sorry that he tore his robe.

Josiah called all the people together, big and small. He read God’s words to everyone. “From now on,” he promised, “we will follow God with all our hearts!”

And they did! The people put away their pretend gods and threw a big party to thank God. God’s Word is a treasure. It shows us how to live.
