Exodus 5–12

Let My People Go

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Moses and his brother, Aaron, went to Pharaoh. “God says, ‘Let my people go!’” But Pharaoh crossed his arms. “No!” he said. “I will not let them go.”

So God sent trouble to Egypt to show his power. Frogs! Ribbit! They hopped in beds and bowls. Then gnats and flies, buzz, buzz! Then hail, CRASH!

Each time, Pharaoh said, “No!” His heart was hard and stubborn. But God is stronger than any king.

Then came a very sad night in Egypt. God told his people to stay inside their homes, eat a special supper, and mark their doors. God kept them safe.

This special supper was called the Passover. That night Pharaoh said, “GO!” So God’s people packed up and marched out. Free at last!

Moms and dads, grandmas and kids, sheep and goats, everyone left Egypt together. God rescued his people, just as he promised!

Talk about it

  • How did God keep his people safe?
  • How do you think the families felt when they walked out free?
  • Who helps you feel safe when you are worried?

Pray together

Thank you, God, for being my rescuer and keeping me safe. Amen.

Memory verse

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
