Mark 10:13–16

Let the Children Come

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Moms and dads brought their children to see Jesus. “Please bless my little one,” they said. Some were tiny babies. Some could run and skip. Little feet hurried. Little faces smiled.

But Jesus’ friends frowned. “Shoo! Go away!” they said. “Jesus is much too busy for children.”

When Jesus saw this, he was not pleased at all. “Let the children come to me!” he said. “Don’t stop them!”

“God’s kingdom belongs to people like these,” Jesus said. “Everyone must come to God trusting, just like a little child.”

Then Jesus took the children in his arms. He put his hands on them and blessed them. Giggles and hugs all around! The children felt so happy and safe.

Jesus was never too busy for children, and he still isn’t. He is never too busy for you! Jesus loves me, and he wants me to come close!

Talk about it

  • How do you know Jesus loves you?
  • What would you want to say to Jesus if you came close to him?
  • How can we help other children feel welcome and loved?

Pray together

Thank you, Jesus, that you are never too busy for me. Amen.

Memory verse

“Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”Mark 10:14 (KJV)
