Genesis 6–9

Noah's Big Boat

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

The world had grown full of unkindness. People forgot God. But Noah loved God. So God told Noah, “Build a big boat, an ark. A flood is coming.”

Bang, bang! Saw, saw! Noah and his family built and built. The ark was long and tall, with a door in the side and a roof on top.

Then the animals came, two by two. Elephants stomped. Giraffes ducked their heads. Lions padded. Little mice scurried in, squeak, squeak!

God shut the door. Pitter-patter... SPLASH! Rain poured for forty days and forty nights. The water rose up, up, up. But the ark floated, safe and snug.

At last the rain stopped. A dove flew out and came back with a fresh green leaf. Soon the ark bumped onto dry ground. Out came everyone!

Noah thanked God. Then God put a rainbow in the sky. “I will never flood the whole earth again,” God promised. God always keeps his promises.

Talk about it

  • What did God promise when he put the rainbow in the sky?
  • How do you think Noah felt when the animals came into the ark?
  • What is one promise you are thankful God keeps?

Pray together

Thank you, God, for keeping me safe and always keeping your promises. Amen.
