Acts 10

Peter's Big Sheet Dream

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

One day Peter went up on a flat roof to pray. He was hungry. Suddenly he saw something like a big sheet coming down from the sky, held by its four corners.

In the sheet were all kinds of animals, birds and creatures. Some were animals God’s people never ate. A voice said, “Get up, Peter, eat!” “No, Lord!” said Peter.

The voice said, “Don’t call anything unclean that God has made clean.” This happened three times. Peter wondered what it meant.

Just then, men knocked at the door. A Roman captain named Cornelius had sent them. An angel had told Cornelius to ask Peter to come.

Back then, Peter’s people did not visit people from other nations. But now Peter understood God’s dream. He went to Cornelius’ house and told everyone about Jesus.

Peter said, “Now I see that God loves people from every nation!” Cornelius and his family believed in Jesus. God’s family is for everyone.

Talk about it

  • Who are people God loves who are different from you?
  • How did Peter learn to welcome new people?
  • What can we do to help everyone feel part of God’s family?

Pray together

Dear God, thank you for loving people from every nation. Help me love everyone too. Amen.
