Acts 8:26–40

Philip and the Chariot

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

An angel spoke to Philip. “Go south to the desert road.” Philip didn’t know why, but he went right away. On the road was a fancy chariot.

In the chariot sat an important man from Ethiopia. He took care of the queen’s treasure. He was reading out loud from a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.

God’s Spirit said to Philip, “Go to that chariot.” Philip ran up beside it. “Do you understand what you are reading?” he asked.

“How can I understand unless someone explains it?” said the man. “Come sit with me!” So Philip climbed up and told him the good news about Jesus.

They came to some water. “Look, here is water!” the man said. “Can I be baptized?” They went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.

The man went home to Ethiopia full of joy. He knew Jesus loved him! The good news about Jesus is for people in every land.

Talk about it

  • Who could you tell about Jesus?
  • How did Philip help the man understand God’s words?
  • What makes your heart feel joyful about Jesus?

Pray together
