Psalm 100

Shout for Joy

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Long ago, God’s people loved to go up to the temple to worship. They walked together up the hill, singing as they went. Boom, boom went the drums!

Children marched with little drums. Grown-ups played harps and shook tambourines. Jingle, jingle! Everyone sang a happy song that we call Psalm 100.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth!” they sang. “Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before him with singing!”

“Know that the Lord is God,” they sang. “He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep he takes care of.”

“Go through his gates saying thank you! Come into his courts with praise! Give thanks to him and bless his name.”

“For the Lord is good. His love lasts forever, and he is faithful to every family, from grandmas to babies.” We can sing his song too!

Talk about it

  • What is one thing you can thank God for today?
  • How do you think the children felt when they sang on the way to the temple?
  • What happy song could our family sing to thank God?

Pray together

Dear God, you are good and your love lasts forever. Thank you! Amen.
