Luke 17:11–19

Ten Healed, One Says Thanks

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Jesus was walking to a village when ten men called out to him from far away. They had a skin sickness, so they had to live apart from everyone else.

“Jesus, Master, please help us!” they shouted. Jesus looked at them with love. “Go and show yourselves to the priests,” he said.

So the ten men started walking. And as they walked, they looked at their arms and hands. Their skin was clean and healthy. They were healed!

Nine of the men hurried on. But one man stopped. He turned around and ran all the way back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God! Thank you, God!”

He knelt down at Jesus’ feet. “Thank you, Jesus!” he said. Jesus asked, “Weren’t ten men healed? Where are the other nine?”

Jesus smiled at the man. “Get up and go. Your faith has made you well.” God loves it when we remember to say thank you!

Talk about it

  • Who can you say thank you to today?
  • Why do you think the one man came back to Jesus?
  • What are some kind things God has given you?

Pray together

Dear God, thank you for all the good things you give me. Help me always say thank you. Amen.
