Numbers 6:22–27

The Lord Bless You

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

God’s people camped in the desert. When the evening came, families sat outside their tents. Little children yawned. Babies snuggled. The stars came out, one by one.

God had given Aaron, the priest, a special job. “Bless my people,” God said. “Put my name on them, and I will bless them.”

So Aaron walked out among the tents. The children looked up at him. Aaron lifted his hands high over all the families.

Aaron spoke God’s blessing softly. “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you, and be kind to you.”

“The Lord look on you with love, and give you peace.” The words floated over the camp like a warm blanket. The children smiled.

One by one, the families went inside to sleep. God was watching over them all night long. Tonight, God is watching over you, too. Goodnight!

Talk about it

  • Who could you say a blessing over tonight?
  • How do you think the children felt when Aaron blessed them?
  • What kind words could help someone feel peaceful at bedtime?

Pray together

Dear God, bless me and keep me tonight, and give my family your peace. Amen.
