Psalm 23

The Lord Is My Shepherd

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

When David was a shepherd boy, he took care of his sheep every day. He knew each one. He led them, fed them, and kept them safe. Baa, baa!

Later, David wrote a song to God. “The Lord is my shepherd,” he sang. “I have everything I need.” God takes care of us like a good shepherd!

“He lets me lie down in soft green grass. He leads me beside still, quiet water. He makes me strong again.”

“Even when I walk through a dark valley, I won’t be afraid, because you are with me. Your shepherd’s staff keeps me safe.”

“You set a table full of good food for me. You fill my cup so full it spills over. Drip, drop!”

“Your goodness and love will follow me every day of my life. And I will live in your house forever.” God is my shepherd, and he takes care of me.

Talk about it

  • How is God like a good shepherd to you?
  • What helps you feel safe when you are worried?
  • If you were a little lamb, where would you want your shepherd to lead you?

Pray together

Dear God, thank you for being my shepherd and taking care of me. Amen.
