1 Samuel 25

Wise Abigail

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

David and his men had kept a rich man’s sheep safe in the fields. The man’s name was Nabal. David asked him, “Please share some food with my hungry men.”

But Nabal was grumpy and rude. “Who is David? Go away!” he said. When David heard that, he got very angry. “Let’s go,” he told his men.

A helper ran to tell Nabal’s wife, Abigail. She was wise and kind. “Quick!” said Abigail. “We must stop this trouble before it starts!”

Abigail loaded donkeys with bread, raisin cakes, fig cakes and more. She rode out to meet David. When she saw him, she got down and bowed low.

“Please don’t do something you will be sorry for,” she said kindly. “Here is food for your men.” David’s angry face softened.

“Thank God for sending you!” said David. “You stopped me from doing wrong.” Abigail was a peacemaker. We can be peacemakers, too!
