Acts 3:1–10

The Man at the Beautiful Gate

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Peter and John went to the temple to pray. At the gate called Beautiful sat a man who had never walked, not even once. Every day his friends carried him there to ask for money.

“Please, can you spare some money?” the man asked. Peter and John stopped and looked right at him. “Look at us!” said Peter.

The man looked up hopefully. He thought they were going to give him some coins.

Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but I will give you what I have. In the name of Jesus, get up and walk!” He took the man’s hand and helped him up.

Right away, the man’s feet and ankles became strong! He stood up. He walked. Then he jumped and leaped and praised God!

Everyone in the temple was amazed. “Isn’t that the man who sat by the gate?” Peter told them, “Jesus made him strong!”

Talk about it

  • What can you give someone that is better than money?
  • How did Peter and John show kindness to the man at the gate?
  • When can you stop and really notice someone who needs help?

Pray together

Dear Jesus, thank you for your great power. Help me share your love with others. Amen.
