Joshua 6

The Walls Fall Down

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

At last God’s people came to the land God had promised them. Their new leader was Joshua. But in the way stood Jericho, a city with big, strong walls.

The gates were shut tight. Nobody went in. Nobody came out. “How will we ever get inside?” the people wondered.

God told Joshua, “March around the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day, march around seven times. The priests will blow trumpets. Then shout!”

It seemed like a strange plan. But Joshua obeyed God. Tromp, tromp, tromp! Around the city they marched with the priests and their trumpets, day after day.

On the seventh day, they marched around once, twice... seven times! The priests blew their trumpets. TOOT! Then all the people gave a great big SHOUT!

RUMBLE... CRASH! The walls of Jericho tumbled down flat! God did just what he said. It is always good to trust and obey God.

Talk about it

  • Joshua obeyed God even when the plan seemed strange. How can you obey?
  • Why do you think Joshua trusted God’s plan?
  • What can help you listen and obey when something feels hard?

Pray together

Dear God, help me trust you and obey, even when it is hard. Amen.

Memory verse
