The story
After the big picnic, Jesus sent his friends across the lake in a boat. Then he went up a mountain all alone to pray to his Father.
In the night, the wind blew hard, and the waves bumped the little boat. Up and down, up and down!
Just before morning, the friends saw someone walking toward them, right on top of the water! “A ghost!” they cried.
“Be brave! It is I. Don’t be afraid,” said Jesus. “Lord, if it’s you,” said Peter, “tell me to come to you.” “Come,” said Jesus.
Peter stepped out and walked on the water! But then he looked at the wind and the waves, got scared, and began to sink. “Lord, save me!”
Right away, Jesus reached out and caught him. Together they climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. His friends worshiped him. When I am scared, I can call to Jesus!
