Isaiah 40

Wings Like Eagles

Open it as a pop-up book: a storyteller reads every page, with sounds, a sticker page, a prayer and a quiz at the end.

The story

Who made the stars? God did! God knows how many there are. He even calls each star by its own name. Twinkle, twinkle!

Who measured the oceans? God did! He could hold all the water in the hollow of his hand. He weighed the mountains like a scale at the market.

God is so big and so strong. And guess what? He never gets tired. He never needs a nap. He never runs out of power. Not ever!

Sometimes people get tired. Even kids get tired! Runners get tired. Big strong people fall down. But God gives strength to people who are tired.

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength,” said Isaiah. “They will soar on wings like eagles! They will run and not get tired.”

Look at the eagle! It spreads its wings and floats high on the wind. When you feel tired or weak, God will lift you up, too.

Talk about it

  • When do you feel tired? How can God help you?
  • What helps your body feel strong again after a busy day?
  • What could you say to God when you need help?

Pray together

Dear God, when I am tired, please give me strength. Help me soar like an eagle. Amen.
